Sandy station is on the East Coast Main Line, about 44 miles north of London and about 30 miles south of Peterborough.
Railway type and traffic
Standard southern ECML traffic.
First Capital Connect services from London Kings Cross and Peterborough formed of 317’s and 365’s. NXEC Expresses to the north with HST’s or 91+MKIV’s. Hull trains Pioneers.
Freight on this section of the ECML is sparse. There is a Biggleswade - Heck Plasmor block working. Freightliner and DB Schenker 66 also operate the odd train during the day. Some GBRf operated infrastructure traffic may also pass through.

Sandy is a small, quiet town in Bedfordshire.
Road directions
From the A1 junction with the A603 take the turn into Sandy. Follow the road and at the next roundabout take exit number three (right turn) and follow this along till you reach the station which will be on your right.

The station is on a fast section of the East Coast Main Line.
Directly to the south the line curves into the station from a long straight. The track then curves gently through the station and continues this curve northwards with a noticeable cant through the station. There is little around to cast major shadows.
