New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
A small two platform station and road over bridge located close to Exeter City Centre, Exeter City FC's stadium is close by.
Railway type and traffic
Located on the West of England Mainline from London Waterloo to Exeter, with branchline services to and from Exmouth and Barnstaple, expect to see First Great Western DMU's of Classes 143, 150, 153 and a once daily 158, and South West Trains Class 159's (with occasional 158's).

RTT Link St. James' Park, Exeter
This link should be close to the location, but may not be the actual location so please check the page. This link will take you to what is happening 'around now'. Dates and times can be changed at the top of the page.
Environment
St James' Park station is rather run down, with lots of litter and graffiti, and due to this is not somewhere I'd recommend lingering after dark, having said that, the area seems safe enough, the road over bridge isn't busy, but is quite narrow.
The station and surrounding area are particularly busy on Exeter City FC matchdays.
Road directions
From the M5, Junction 29:
Follow the A3015 into, and through, Exeter City Centre. You will pass over Exeter Central Station. When you do this at the end of the bridge there is a mini roundabout. Turn right over the zebra crossing and up Blackhall Road. At the t junction with Pennsylvania Road turn left and then, about 100 yards later after the Co-Op on the left, turn right onto Powderham Crescent. This no through road leads to the station.

Photographic notes
The line runs roughly east-to-west, both sides of the bridge provide a decent viewpoint, eastwards looking towards Blackboy Tunnel (in my opinion, the 'prime shot'), and westwards looks towards the station itself.
For videos, passengers may get in the way on the station, as it's rather small, and traffic noise may be an issue on the overbridge for prolonged sessions.
