Location notes
The point on the Nene Valley Railway where the line from the East Coast joins the preserved railway. There are two tracks: one heads for Peterborough NVR and the other to the main line.
Railway type and traffic
Preserved line with a mixture of Steam and Diesels. Operating Days can be found on the
NVR Website.
Environment
The location is a foot crossing over the line, so there is no trespass involved. Be wary of other path users though, there are plenty of cyclists about!
Road directions
From the A1(M) Junction 17:Head into Peterborough along Fletton Parkway and after about 2 miles exit left and get onto Nene Parkway. At the next junction exit and go under the road and join Morley Way heading east. At the roundabout take the second exit onto Shrewsbury Avenue, heading north. Follow this road north, it will change into Botolph Green and you will enter a new housing estate. You will see a large green on the left and a large public foot path on the right.
Then walk down the footpath to the location. This footpath also leads along the line to Peterborough NVR station.

Parking
You can park your car in the housing areas or opposite Peterborough NVR Station.
Amenities
There are no facilities at the location, but as you will probably be visiting Wansford there is a station cafe there. There are also a couple of petrol stations within about 10 minutes walk on the main road.
Accommodation
There are lots of Bed and Breakfast in Peterborough.

Photographic notes
The line is running roughly north east to south west at this point so a sun on the nose shot will be on during most of the day in one direction or another.
For a Wansford bound shot the bank separating the NVR and the spur to BR metals will reduce the length of train in your shot.
There is also a shot of a train coming off the BR line at this point, there is a fixed distant semaphore in the shot too, sadly little uses this section of line. The only time something is likely to use this section is before and after a gala with stock transferring back to the main line.
If you do find this information useful then please feel free to mention how you 'found' the location on your website or magazine submission.
