This is a station on the 6.5 mile Watford to St Albans Abbey branch line. It is the second station on the line and is about 2 miles south of St Albans Abbey station.

Railway type and traffic
In a day you will see one unit working the line, all day. This has been either Class 313, 321 or 150 on occasion.
Charters are very rare due to pathing constraints and test trains have been know to visit on an annual basis.
Engineering is more likely to be carried out by road rail equipment.

Environment
How Wood is a quite suburban housing area, the station is nothing more than a platform and a bush shelter.
Road directions
From the M25, Junction 21a:
Head north up the A405, at the first roundabout take the second exit and continue along the dual carriageway until you reach next roundabout. Here take the thrid exit and follow this road, Tippendell Lane, until you reach the jucntion just by the railway bridge. Turn right and follow Park Street. Keep your eyes peeled for the station sign, it is surrounded by trees!

Parking
Park in one of the residential streets on the opposite side of the road to the station. There is a drive up to the station, but there is a very small 'no parking for station users' sign.

There is a small foot crossing at the northern end of the station, which can provide a nice view of a train curving into the station. The view of a northbound working is uninspiring.
