Location notes
Inverkeithing is a small town on the north bank of the Firth of Forth and is on the main line from Edinburgh to Dundee, Stirling, Aberdeen and Inverness, also being the junction for the local Fife Circle line.
Railway type and traffic
Longer distance services to Dundee, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness are usually Scotrail's 158 and 170 units, with Voyagers and NXEC HSTs on the Anglo-Scottish workings north of Edinburgh. Local fife trains are currently class 150 units, with 158s and even 170s increasingly appearing.
There is freight trains on the line, principally MGR trains to Longannet Power Station, though these will be rerouted if the line from Kincardine is reopened.

Environment
The bridge overlooking the East Junction is on a fairly busy road, though there are wide pavements by the bridge. The bridge is fairly exposed in winter.
Road directions
After crossing north over the Forth Road Bridge, take the second exit east onto the A921 towards Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay. Shortly you will come to two small roundabouts, with Inverkeithing Station to the right, turn left at the second roundabout (B981) and the road crosses the railway after about 300 yards.

Parking
There is a rough lay-by just after the bridge on the left.
Public transport
From Inverkeithing, exit via the footbridge through the small car park and turn right onto the road to the roundabout ahead. Turn right and immediately left at the second roundabout and this road leads to the bridge. Approx 10 minute walk from the station.
Amenities
There are no amenities in the area but Inverkeithing itself has few shops.

The light here is best in an afternoon, though specifically towards tea-time, for trains heading towards Edinburgh. It is possible to view trains heading the other way though there is little warning, the view is poor, and the line is in a cutting so usually shaded.
