Location notes
A quiet station on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The station is on the West Coast Main Line between Edinburgh and Carstairs.
Railway type and traffic
All services from Edinburgh to Carlisle and Glasgow Central:
NXEC 91s , Virgin Voyagers , Scotrail class 156 and 322s (though the 322s return south after the may 2004 timetable change )
Freight consists of:
EWS mgr, enterprise and intermodal, engineers, steel , alcans, DRS nuclear flasks and Freightliner cement.

Environment
Quite quiet, though you can sometimes get kids hanging around in the evening. Having said that I have never experienced any problems.
Road directions
From the Edinburgh city by-pass (A720):
Take the A71 (Kilmarnock) road. Then take the second road on the left and the station is on the right, further up the road. (The first turn off is marked Heriott Watt university).

Station car park, free parking.
Public transport
Scotrail services between Edinburgh and Glasgow central, via Shotts.
Amenities
Unstaffed station, no toilets. A few shops including bakers can be found in Currie, a few minutes drive away.

Best positioning is on platform 1 (Glasgow bound platform), where the sun is more or less 'side on' for most of the day. Usually quiet enough for videographers.
